Michelle
was born in Mexico and grew up in the border town of El Paso, Texas. She started studying Mexican Folklorico at the University of Texas at El Paso in 1997. She then moved to Utah to study at BYU where she was accepted into the dance company Living Legends, which has a trajectory of 35 years touring and performing in almost every country in the World. Not only was Michelle a dancer, she was also the solo vocalist of the group. Her vocal style is ranchero. With Living Legends she learned dances from other Latin American countries and performed at many different venues. Among these venues was the Opening Ceremonies of the XIX Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, 2002. Michelle worked under the direction of choreographer Kenny Ortega, who is best known for his work in Dirty Dancing, High School Musical, & The Cheetah Girls. The Olympic Opening Ceremonies earned Kenny two Emmy Awards. Michelle also performed in Light of the World; a production during the Olympic Games. She toured Alaska and was part of the Anti-suicide campaign (thru dance and appreciation of ones own culture) headed by the U. S. Air force. She has a deep love and passion for her own culture and its dances as well as those other cultures she represents when dancing.
